Bengal Tiger received mixed reviews from the critics.[62] Y. Sunita Chowdary of The Hindu stated that Nandi "shines as a dialogue writer" and called the film "almost an epic" compared to Kick 2. Chowdary added, "Those seeking variety can stay away but those who go expecting their share of fun will not be disappointed".[63] Sify gave 3 out of 5 stars and called Bengal Tiger a "regular mass entertainer with severe stress on comedy and glamour", adding, "Compared to recent Ravi Teja's movie, Bengal Tiger is more entertaining. The first half of the movie, Ravi Teja's antics, and Prudhvi are its strength" and pointed out that the second half "should have been better".[64] The Hans India too gave the film 3 out of 5 stars and stated that Nandi "has come out with a full treat to mass audience", adding that the twist in the interval scene "takes the film to a new level".[65] Suresh Kavirayani of Deccan Chronicle too gave the film 3 out of 5 stars and called the film a "regular paisa vasool film with the right dose of masala and glamour", adding that it is "far more entertaining" compared to Kick 2 and a "good comeback" for Ravi Teja.[66] Pravallika Anjuri of Oneindia gave the film 3 out of 5 stars as well and stated, "Though Bengal Tiger is a formulaic film, it is surely a complete 'Paisa Vasool' for masses, which makes it a perfect Mass Maharaj Ravi Teja's trademark film", adding that the cinematography and production values make Bengal Tiger a "technically good film too".[67] IndiaGlitz also gave the film 3 out of 5 stars and called Bengal Tiger a "Ravi Teja-style power-packed performance, complete with comedy doses from Prithvi Raj and Posani, not to speak of punch lines of a different shade".[68]
This "At a Glance" Gallery features the stunning rendering by costume designer Professor Marie Anne Chiment for our production of Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo. Described by the Los Angeles Times as "the most original play about the Iraq war," Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo is an imaginative exploration of the power and perils of human nature. The lives of two American soldiers, Tom (Tim Dugan) and Kev (Darryl Gene Daughtry) and an Iraqi translator (Ibrahim Miari) are forever changed by an encounter with a clever, sardonic tiger (Alice Gatling) haunting the streets of war-torn Baghdad. Tragic and disturbing, darkly comic and highly theatrical, the play is a meditation on life, death, and the afterlife. The cast is completed with Charlie DelMarcelle (Uday/Iraqi Man), Kayla Tarpley (Iraqi Teenager/Hadia), and Stephanie Iozzia (Iraqi Woman/Leper). The production is directed by David Girard with scenic design by John Michael Eddy, lighting design by Liz Phillips, sound design by Mark Valenzela, and projection design by Michael Long.

The Bengal tiger (or Panthera tigris tigris) is native to India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan and Western China. It can live in all kinds of environments, including grassland, forests and mangroves, and will hunt large prey such as cloven-hoofed animals like goats, deer and cows (collectively known as ungulates). The Bengal tiger can be identified by its bright orange coat and brown or black stripes, along with a large head, muscular limbs and large teeth.
The species is endangered, with the numbers alive in the wild continuing to fall. The main threat to Bengal tigers is poaching - they are killed for fur and body parts, the latter of which are desired for traditional medicines. Farmers are also prone to killing them in order to protect their own livestock, despite the fact that tigers preying on this type of animal is rare.
Various countries are assisting in the ongoing conservation of the Bengal tiger by protecting the areas in which they live. In India, 'Project Tiger' has created breeding reserves in areas where tiger populations are high, and when tigers become old enough, they migrate away from this area of high tiger population to find their own territory. This gives the tigers a wider distribution. For some time, this effort did result in the tiger population recovering, however it is unfortunately back in decline.
Bengal tigers spend their time alone, except for a mother with her cubs. They are solitary animals - in the wild they will only interact to mate or fight over mates. They spend their days hunting and patrolling their territory. Male Bengal tigers may have territory of 100km2, and females up to 20km2,
Male tigers will track receptive females through scent marking and scratches on trees. If the female is receptive the two will mate but then go their separate ways. The female will give birth to a litter of 1 to 4 cubs in a den after a 3-month pregnancy. Tiger mothers begin to train their cubs to hunt when they are around 3 months old and mature enough to leave the den. They will stay with their mother until they are between 2 and 3 years old, at which point they will leave to establish their own territory.
Circus melodrama B with a dim/tired love triangle and growling big cat trainer Bart MaClane trying to get the better of a savage tiger called 'Satan' - who eats one of his legs. "Sure I can work the cage with one bum gam....."
The film is based off the Yann Martel novel which centers on a young boy who is lost at sea in a tiny lifeboat with a Bengal tiger. Here's an excerpt from the article that describes some of the visual effects shots in the film.
There's a shipwreck, the ship sinks, and a teenage boy is launched overboard and climbs into a life raft with a zebra, hyena and a tiger. There are many CG animals (whales, fish, meercats) plus ocean and atmosphere. "It has a gigantic visual effects component," says (Elizabeth) Gabler. "You can't put a live tiger in a boat with a child. It has elements of Castaway, when the kid is alone in the boat. You don't need language to convey what's on the screen. We need to make the movie for the whole world."
Oscar-winning director Ang Lee's new epic Life of Pi showcases the relationship between a teenage Indian boy and a Bengal tiger. But in reality, the predators are under increasing threat from humans.
India is home to 1,706 tigers according to the latest census, almost half of the worldwide population. But that figure is a fraction of the 40,000 that roamed the country at the time of the country's independence in 1947.
In one of numerous reported attacks on the endangered big cats, villagers near the Bangladesh-India border bludgeoned a tiger to death earlier this month after it strayed from the Sundarbans, the world's largest mangrove forest.
An Indian boy and a Bengal tiger: a tale familiar to children a century ago from Rudyard Kipling's story of Mowgli and Shere Khan in The Jungle Book. Call the boy Pi and the tiger Richard Parker, trap them on a small lifeboat in turbulent Pacific waters and set up a boy-vs.-beast battle for territory and survival, and you have the essence of Yann Martel's best-selling Life of Pi, winner of the Man Booker Prize for Fiction in 2002. It's a ripping yarn, full of storm and fang and a spectral awe. But it poses unusual challenges to the director of... Teen party adventure. * * * * R. A brutal, unapologetic comedy about the fantasy every high school kid carries around in his head about being popular, cool and beloved. The movie was inspired by the real-life exploits of Corey Delaney, an Australian teenager who threw a house party that got so out of control the riot police had to be called in. Director Nima Nourizadeh uses the found-footage approach (one of the characters in the movie is filming everything with his camera) to tell a similar story. When his parents go away on vacation, the likable nerd Thomas (Thomas Mann) and his pals Costa (Oliver Cooper) and JB (Jonathan Daniel Brown) decide to throw the mother of all bashes.(Rodriguez) 88 minutes
"This is very encouraging," said Maheshwar Dhakal, an ecologist with Nepal's National Parks and Wildlife Conservation Department, adding that the Himalayan nation was on target to achieve its goal ahead of the deadline. "But the increased numbers have also added to our responsibilities and challenges for the conservation of tigers."
Conservation experts credit the increase to effective policing of national parks, stronger anti-poaching drives and better management of tiger habitats in Nepal, where forests cover 29 per cent of the land.
However, as the number of tigers has increased over the years, so have incidents of conflict with villagers. Seven people were killed in attacks by tigers around national parks last year compared with four in 2011, park officials said. Villagers are also seeking better protection.
Proving it's not just Americans who do incredibly stupid things, a young Chinese tiger keeper was killed after attempting to defecate on one of his charges. With only toilet paper, a belt and a pile of excrement to go on, Chinese police are speculating that 19-year-old Xu Xiaodong appears to have climbed the railings of the Bengal tiger cage and pulled down his pants to relieve himself. Zoo officials think Xu either slipped into the cage or was pulled in by one of the four tigers. According to the South China Morning Post, the man had told a co-worker he was headed to the toilet, and never returned. His body was found lying in the cage, with bloody bite marks on his neck. Police speculate that he climbed the wall of a partially constructed building used for the tigers and the smell of his excrement caused them to pounce. 2ff7e9595c
